Welcome to my blog. I'm an erratic blogger - sometimes I write loads and sometimes I disappear for days on end. I write about anything that comes to mind - sometimes about life, sometimes about marriage, sometimes about food and sometimes just about things that have wound me up! I have no comments because I need no-one's opinion on my life - mine is the only opinion that counts.

I'm married to Tim (delivery driver and gorgeous musician), have 2 daughters, live on the south coast of the UK and have 1 aging cat (Hemmingway or Hemmy for short). I love reading, yoga, crafts, baking, daft old comedies, music and teaching.

Tomorrow, tomorrow

Hey wow! It's Wednesday tomorrow and we know what that means don't we? Yep, it's April's nursery day and I shall have a whole afternoon alone as Rosie is going back to her trampoline class. Am I giving the impression that I'm glad to be rid of my children (and husband!)? Noooo! Not at all, but it IS lovely :)

Anyway, I said in yesterdays post that I would eleborate on our new curriculum that we shall be using with Rosie.

Everything Homeschool is PERFECT for us. For a small sum of around $15.00 a year (for all grade levels, not just one child) you get access to weekly lesson plans. Each week, each subject focuses on a different skill for example the first week we have decided to start on covers grammar for English Language, multiplication practice for maths, timelines in Social Studies, endangered animals in science and wet on wet painting in art.

It's detailed enough that you can follow it "as is" if you want but flexible enough that you can add in extra things. For example, I found it very easy to include a few of our beloved Montessori bits with this weeks lesson plans. I'm using the coloured bead bars for multiplication practice and quickly made up some endangered animal 3 part cards for science. Really though, you don't need to do this - everything is there - just scroll through the lesson plans, select the activities you want to do and get on with it.

I love the fact that you get ALL grade levels for the same price (brilliant if you have more than one child that you are home educating) and I love all the other bits on the site. There is a preschool area, teens area, unit studies section and hands on activity area. Every month there is also an online magazine with loads of great articles.

So, any downsides? Not that I've seen so far. I would say, honestly, that its especially good for those of us that seem to flit from one method to another but are DESPERATE for some daily plans to guide us.

Brilliant stuff :)

Oh, and just for amusment value, I have to mention Tim's recent beard growing experiment. In all the years I've known him he's never had one but he decided to go for it over recent days. Four days in (ie today!) he gave up saying he "felt like a dirty old tramp"! Shame in a way, I like a bit of rugged looking stubble ;) Still, he looks good whatever so never mind.
