NOTICE ON PICS - All pics on this blog (unless otherwise stated) are my personal work. DO NOT take pics from this blog without seeking my permission first! Bless you.

Welcome to my blog. It is updated weekly with pictures and projects from our homeschool - maybe you can find something to inspire you :) I have a (no longer updated) materials page elsewhere on my website and will, occasionally, post my homemade materials in this blog.

I'm married to Tim (delivery driver and gorgeous musician), have 2 daughters, live on the south coast of the UK and have 1 aging cat (Hemmingway or Hemmy for short). I love reading, yoga, crafts, baking, daft old comedies, music and teaching.

On this page you can find my homeschool blog, if you want to read my general, day-to-day blog, click the link below :)

NOTE ON PICTURES: This shouldn't be necessary but I have, sadly, noticed growing cases. Please DO NOT link directly to pictures on this website - it steals my bandwidth and is BAD! I CAN trace you if you do and I will take action.

At a loose end

Not doing much this morning ... sort of meandering around - pottering :) We're off to my sis-in-law's later on for a barbecue (don't rain! don't rain! Neither Tim nor I like barbecues ALL that much anyway and crap weather makes it worse) as it's her boyfriend, Rob's, 40th birthday. I tried VERY hard to find a birthday card that didn't contain some age insult but it was impossible so in the end I settled on "It's your 40th birthday and you're still looking HOT ...... must be all the candles".

Ho. Ho.

So, while I wait for Tim to get home, I meander.

Out of sheer "I've got nothing else to do-ness", I'm going to write an introductory post to this blog. Yes, I know, that should SURELY be written at the START of a blog? Ha! I'm nothing, if not surprising. I'll stick a link in the sidebar so any new readers who might be in the slightest bit interested, can "read all about it" ... so to speak.

So, here goes.

Name: Er... look at the title of this website.

Age: 37

Place of Birth: Dorset

Currently living in: Dorset (I sure do get about don't I?)

Marital status: Married, 10 years, to Tim

Kiddies: 2 girls - Rosie aged 10 and April aged 3

Pets: 2 cats - Mo-Mo and Hemmingway (or Mo and Hemmy for short)

Present employment: Well, I don't go out and earn a wage but I am a cleaner, mummy, teacher, nurse, children's entertainer, animal carer and ... erm... wife (nuff said).

Past employment: (This is where, if Tim was here, I'd get "jokes" about office tarts). I ... er... worked in offices. Started out as a general scivey at the Bournemouth Echo (actually, my most favourite job other than being 17 years old and getting letched at CONTINUOUSLY by a married bloke who must have been in his late 30's at that point ..... *shudders*). Then I worked for an estate agent in their hotel department as a general office typist/filing clerk/telephone answerer. Then I left and worked for another estate agent doing much the same thing (yawn!) before being "asked back" to former estate agent by an Associate Director who was in Town Planning and needed a secretary. Wooo! big honour. So did that, along with doing some occasional work for the Chairman of same company when his secretary was away. Eventually, due to a series of unfortunate events involving my, then, boyfriend, I ended up sort of temping at various places until I got caught up in the marriage lark with my first husband. A career person I am not.

Appearance: I've got a photo page - go see. I'm short (5'2"), curvy, blue-green eyes, dark reddy-blonde hair. Look younger than my age. Not much else to say.

Distinguishing Features: Slightly lopsided shoulders due to scoliosis (see below), big scar on one arm because I burned myself on the oven last year, the middle fingers of both hands curve slightly to one side at the tips (bizarrely, April seems to have inherited this feature but it's her little fingers on both hands that are affected. Weird.)

Favourite Food: Tim's tomato and mozerella pasta bake, tiramisu, homemade bread, Shredded Wheat with hot milk.

Favourite Drinks: Tea, red wine, vodka and orange juice (as long as it's in a tall glass and VERY chilled), Macdonald's chocolate "suck-your-face-inside-out" shakes

Favourite books: Jilly Cooper - Appassionata. William Sutcliffe - Are You Experienced? Judy Astley - Pleasant Vices.

Current Playlist:

How I keep fit: Erm.... Ok, not much (lazy!) but I do HAVE to do yoga every day. This is not only because it keeps me toned up but also because I have scoliosis and yoga keeps me flexible and helps my posture. Scoliosis, ignored, causes vast amounts of pain and lopsided-ness but managed well you can "appear" quite normal and feel ok. I'm in good company - Sarah Michelle Gellar and Isabella Rossellini have it and if they can look that good .. hell! so can I.

Bad stuff about me: I'm a daydreamer and spend time when I should be doing other stuff, mulling over things in my mind. Sometimes I think too much - never a good idea. Bit of a moody cow at times - although Tim, thankfully, knows how to get me out of that pretty quick (pinned down, t-shirt up, raspberry on the belly, cue much hysterical screaming and laughter from me. Bad mood gone) Doesn't always work, depends on how cross I'm determined to be. I make decisions too hastily and am pretty inflexible once I've made them. I get lethargic and sometimes need a stiff (Tim sized) boot up the backside to get me motivated. Actually, that's quite funny, because he can be as bad as me sometimes!

Good stuff about me: I'm good at flirting ;) (maybe this should be in the bad section too!!) I think I've got a pretty good sense of humour (certainly, I can make Tim roar with laughter sometimes which is quite rare because it's not something people see him doing very often). I'm creative and enjoying making stuff. I've got bags of patience with my kids (particularly when homeschooling Rosie). I love ... a lot.

Ok, bored of writing about myself now *laughs*. Time to go do ... something.
